I know because I have been running an e-commerce business since 2012 first through facebook, then wordpress and now using shopify. Although its been a “side hustle’ for me during all those years it never provided a steady source of supplemental income and I almost gave up on my dream of creating my own self sufficient online business where I could invest 100% of my time and quit my 9-5 day job. My Story

Hi. My name is Dale Day. An Engineer and Maintenance Manager turned Affiliate Marketer!

I was born in Canada where I worked for 34 years in a demanding and high pressure industry. I had enough of working for someone else, building someones elses dreams and bringing the stress of a demanding job home each day. I knew I needed to change direction!

My wife and 3 kids still needed me around and I had to take drastic action in 2021 after that stress triggered a massive heart attack. It wasn’t my time but that was a wake up call for me to look for a new way to make a living

It led to a journey exploring alternatives that could give me a better quality of life

I wasn’t ready or able to retire but needed to find a less stressful way to make a living, where I had greater control of my time. At 57 I wanted to try something new and jumped head first into the world of online entrepreneurship. Like all things new it started with being educated and learning new skills! That was the challenge I needed!

I found the key to success in the FREE Video Series I am offering you now. IN BASIC TERMS IT WORKS LIKE THIS!

1. Establish a website as a “home base”. Basically its an “Authority Site” which can be very simple. Something about yourself, who you are and what your overall business is all about. For example maybe you have a passion for health and fitness. Lets use that as an example. Your website will represent your story, contact information, maybe contain some articles on various products you like. It could be as simple as that
2. Contact those companes that sell those products that you like or believe in and want to sell. Signup to become “affiliates” for them . This is either done through the companies themselves or through larger “affiliate programs” who might represent 100’s or 1000’s of different types of companies and products. They will then forward you an “affiliate link”
3. Write articles/blog posts about the various products you like maybe explaining your personal expereince with them, the benefits you experienced or witnessed in others etc. Attach the affiliate links throughout the articles to CTA (Call To Action) buttons. You see them everywhere. They direct you to various places on the internet where you can make purchases
4. Drive traffic to the article either for free (by SEO – Search Engine Optimization). Basically Google will rank your content “organically”. Or maybe through facebook or instagram. Again free as long as you have a facebook page or instagram account. This can take awhile especially starting out so another way is to create ads either through google or facebook usually and drive traffic to your piece of content. This will require $ investment and depending on the value of your affiliate products may or may not be profitable
5. Each time a sale is made the affiliate link provides a track back to you where a % of the sale (commission) is forwarded back to your bank account or paypal account for example
6. Once created and posted this content has the potential to generate income 24/7 without any other direct interaction from you. Have enough of these promoted products and you have yourself a business

Pros and Cons

Pros:

Lifestyle Flexability: Affiliate marketing allows a lifestyle of mobility and geographical freedom where all you need is a laptop and internet connection to generate income online

Automated Income Streams: Once the systems are established income can be generated 24/7 (while you sleep) Nothing better than waking up to check your email and learn you have made money throughout the night!

Learn New Skills: Like copywriting, blogging, vlogging or video editing. These can be transferable to many other industries such as starting your own consulting business and passing what you have learned on to others

Financial Rewards: Income is uncapped as you can become an affiliate marketer for a vast array of products limited only by your desire. Compensation can be susbtantial especially if selling “high ticket affiliate products” where commissions can be 100’s or 1000’s of dollars

Cons:

Commissions: In contrast to high commission products they can be low depending on the products that you are promoting which would mean you need many more of them to generate significant income and where apid advertising might not be an economical methods of promotion

Competition: With the large number of people joining affiliate programs competition can be significant which makes the choice of being educated and gaining the skills you need that much more important and critical to success

Fraudulent Programs: There are many programs available that make unrealistic promises and practice less than professional ethics in promoting their products. Just be wairy and practice your due diligence when representing your product choices.

Budget: It will be diffcult to build a business with no marketing budget but with just a small (i.e.$5.00/day) investment you can get traction in your business faster than you think
